چکیده
This article investigates intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-aided multicell wireless networks, where an IRS is deployed to assist the joint processing coordinated multipoint (JP-CoMP) transmission from multiple base stations (BSs) cell-edge users. By taking into account fairness among users, we aim at maximizing minimum achievable rate of users by jointly optimizing transmit beamforming BSs and phase shifts IRS. As a compromise approach, transform non-convex max-min problem equivalent form based on mean-square error method, which facilities design efficient suboptimal iterative algorithm. In addition, investigate two scenarios, namely single-user system multiuser system. For former scenario, optimal obtained dual subgradient while shift matrix optimized Majorization-Minimization method. latter are second-order cone programming semidefinite relaxation techniques, respectively. Numerical results demonstrate significant performance improvement achieved deploying Furthermore, proposed JP-CoMP significantly outperforms conventional scheduling/coordinated (CS/CB-CoMP) in terms rate.

Benefit by using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), LTE-Advanced system can eliminate intra-cell interference, however it still cannot decrease inter-cell interference (ICI). As a realization of CoMP, interference alignment (IA) attracts wide attention recently, which can obtain the optimal transmitting degree of freedom in multi-cell systems. On the basis of CoMPMU-MIMO system ...

This paper considers the max-min weighted signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) problem subject to multiple weighted-sum power constraints, where the weights can represent relative power costs of serving different users. First, we study the power control problem. We apply nonlinear Perron-Frobenius theory to derive closed-form expressions for the optimal value and solution and an itera...

Energy efficiency in cellular networks is a growing concern for cellular operators to not only maintain profitability, but also to reduce the overall environment effects. According to technical analysts, the base stations are the most energy intensive part of a typical cellular network. Saving power in base stations is therefore the primary focus in energy efficient operation. The main goal of ...

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...
